BK2 Skinning?

I'm sure it would work just fine for skinning. You would want a smaller, slimmer blade to use in conjunction with it though. There are better knives out there more suited to the task but all you really need is a sharp blade of some sort. As for small game, I would imagine it would be quite awkward. A pair of good scissors would be more useful if you ask me.

Personally - way to big. I used my BK11 for a deer this year and it worked great. Very handy skinning knife. Never needed anything larger and split the rib cage around the sternum, batoned through the pelvis. Never lost its edge.

For a deer you need knowledge about anatomy more than a giant blade.

I think I could use my BK2 for deer but would never do it when I have my BK11 handy. That knife is *perfect* for the job.

IMO, a 5" blade is just way too big for game. It could work but when you are up to your elbow in the goopy bits, I think you want the sort of positive control a smaller knife provides.

i waited in a tree for 3 days with a BK2 between my teeth, but no deer.

the golden retriever however, very tender, tastes like spotted owl.
