Hi guys and gals (if any look at this thread), guess what I did!

You're absolutely right! I stripped Helga by hand!:D

I apologize in advance for the crappiest pictures you ever did see, but my digital camera won't charge, and the only light I have right now is a lantern from the BSA (Boy Scouts) local council shop...... Not great lighting for a very light sensitive webcam.......

The next thing I want to do is clich her name out of (that means etch around the letters, in my mind anyhow) the flats of the blade. And when I (hopefully) get my BH#, I'm gonna do the same on the flats on the other side.

Anywho, heeeeeerrrrrrrrreeeeee'sssssss HELGA!

Lol nice! I kept expecting to get a glimpse of Bigfoot striding by in the background but nice work!

Now that's some hard work! Good job. Now go find a friend with a good camera that you can get addicted to knives!

Thanks for the compliments on my first mod guys. And actually, you didn't see Bigfoot because I am Bigfoot, I have the largest foot in my family, and we got pretty large feet.

Aside from getting paint stripper and a much higher grit paper, any recommendations on removing the rest of the coating from the spine and tang?

Next up is either reverse cliching her name on her or hand sanding Becca (FPR 16) to a mirror finish since Mr. Becker's signature already got destroyed by me using it.... Don't ask, just blame a tree.

I would leave the tang alone since the coating does protect the handle metal pretty well, and that is something that is worth having. Just my two cents though. Good on you for doing it the hard way and proving that good ole fashioned gumption is enough to get the job done, in spite of us naysayers.

Thanks, I figured if this was how Scouts used to do it, then I could at least match them. And yes, I know there were very few early Scouts that stripped black epoxy coating from 1/4" blades, but you get the point.
