I wished BK designed two other knives in the 7"-10" length with a drop point blade, rather then the clip point... Of course not quite the 1/4" spine but you get the idea.

I had my 7 out today and the CP is the only thing that bothers me while batoning, well the thumb ramp does a little also but I can over come that..

I think Becker would sell a TON more knives if they were drop point design..I'm sure they sell enough just thing the drop point is more desirable to the sheeple..

What say YOU.. ?? We need a drop point series people! !!!

How about a drop point 1/4" thick 10" blade length. I'll take one of those. :D

your right (or left...depending) arm would get HUGE quickly slinging that much steel around! :D

A 10" BK2 would be cool indeed:cool:.As I feel the current BK9 is a little on the slim side:eek::p.The Camillus version was .210",which,I think was a little closer to ideal for the BK9(yes, I have one).

I'll go to a Spear point BK-7 same blade thickness as the current line .188"
just My 2c.

Ontario makes something along those lines, i think. like a long BK02...

there's also the Becker/Ritter special, but that's not going to be by KaBar

I think a 10" drop point makes a lot of sense. When you make it in.210 it will be more usefull.

HEAVY DUTY!! If the BK9 was a little thicker, it would be even more awesome than it already is. The Cam one I think was just a little thicker than the Kabar. Moose

Hump an old Brute and a canteen full of water around for a day on a web belt, and you may see things differently. Strapped to a pack,.. maybe.

Reguardless, I still think it would be awesome. I'm sure lots of people would love to own and use a 10 inch long, .210 thick extended BK2.

I know I'd buy one!

Hey Everybody......

I will only say that - IT HAS BEEN DISCUSSED.........Loooooong time coming....years, many years..........

All Best....

Fingers crossed big time!

A longer bladed version has been one of my dream knives since the BK2 was introduced.
When the BK9 was first released I thought it would satisfy that craving. It is a great piece but I still want the stretched BK2!
I'd always pictured it as 1/4" thick but a little thinner would be Ok! In 7" blade length I think the current blade width would be great. In the 9 or 10" length I wouldn't mind a little more width.

I'd like it for the simplicity of the design. No extra bells and whistles i.e. thumb ramp, clip point etc.
I remember posting something about this back in the Cam/Becker days. I still think it would be popular. The idea seemed to get shot down at the time because they didn't want to just do variations of the same pattern. Understandable but I think this one would fill a niche.
I hope those discussions bare fruit!

I think it will. Since the joining of EB/Kabar, there has been a trend in the "What can we do now" paradigm of thinking. It all started with a San Mai Bk11. Definetly out of the box. We go into a "Get'em some of what they are used to" BK7, BK9, Bk11, BK2, and then BAM!! ESKABAR, no one saw that one coming, except Bladite, maybe. Now, feet on the ground, Tooj and Mr. Becker beatin' it up, Magnum Camp is on its way, 'tweeners on they're way, and a whole new world opens up, can't wait for the next ESEE collab, ever notice how the ESEE 5 and BK2 are similar? Just some food for thought. Moose

I'm not putting you down buddy, I understand your enthusiasm. That's why I bought my Brute years ago. I still love it actualy. I'm 50 though and not a young buck anymore. At the end of the day I'm pooped and I'm now seeking to lower my carried weight a little here and there. I just got the newer BK2 a few days ago and I like the idea of the internal cut outs to reduce weight. To be honest though I was a wee bit concerned about how the knife would hold up with the tang cuts. Anyway, I decided that I would go medieval with it on dead stumps\logs, some of these were like iron. I figured that if I killed it, it was cheap enough not to cry over. But I didn't faze that little tank so all is well in my mind now. She's a little toughie and the grivory likely adds some structural support anyway. B.T.W., I'm originaly from the Oshawa\Bowmanville area. I grew up with a fishing rod in one hand , and a .22 in the other. I wish you a good day sir.:)

heh - weight :) the different in weight is something incredibly minor, 1.26 ounces. you could probably lose a bolt on a regular model, and call it even. strength-wise, well, they tested it. they wouldn't have done it if it was going to break. still more metal than than many a rat tang - and we all know how hard it is to break one of those. most human just are not that strong.

the brute though, well, it's a bit beefy, as is the BK-09 and the upcoming new big blades.

well, actually, the magnum camp should be fairly svelte compared to the BK-09, but the machax, oh yeah :)

I had a new BK-2\Brute weight comparo in mind when I posted this. I can't remember what the difference was off hand, although I looked it up once. I didn't care for the Brute and canteen trying to pull my joggers down around my knees throughout the day.;) What I'm really waiting for now is the Magnum camp. That design may meet more of my parameters.:)

i decided a long time ago i didn't want things on my waist unless they had their own belt (holy utility Batman!)... one of military style gun belts with 2 inch fastex buckle, holds its own weight and other things nicely.

otherwise, give me a daypack, or at least something like a Versipack, and i'm happy. carries a lot more weight!

Yes, that's what I was using, a newer military web belt. I also have a couple of large surplus military back packs. I guess that my heavier blades, tomahawks etc. would be better off strapped to a back pack. I don't mind some weight on my hip for a knife, but I have a comfort level and know when it is exceeded, when combined with a canteen etc. So I guess for myself, the real heavy weights will be strapped to the outside of a pack. From what I've seen so far though, the Mag Camp should be just dandy on my hip. I'm really waiting for that one.:)
