Posted elsewhere as well but this is home. :D

Couple of windy days resulted in some decent sized dead limbs being ejected from our sketchy silver maple. Accordingly, I took the BK2 and CS Trailhawk out for a stretch (BK9 has been busy all winter - time for someone else to play).

The victims - that big bugger fell right where I used to hang my hammock. A HF thread on widow-makers educated me to start looking up. Yeesh - glad I hang elsewhere now...

Chopped one section with the BK2 and decided to do some cross-batoning...

Victory is mine!

Did a bunch more of that and decided to switch to the CS Trailhawk for the last couple of sections...

I love using trees from my yard as practice. I need to do a little cross-batoning with my Beckers. I haven't tried that yet.

Came here for the no tweener machax content. Bunch of lemmings. Sick of hearing them all brag:D

Nice pics man. Good stuff.

Very nice, how do you like the trailhawk as a chopper? I've contemplated getting one, but always reckoned that my BK7 could probably chop as well, and a 9 or 4 certainly better. But I still want a tomahawk dammit, just can't justify carrying it over a big knife.

It's actually a surprisingly good chopper. I'm by no means a ax guy but dang it, it's really good at that stuff. I did a chop off a while back between the Trailhawk and the BK9 and to my great surprise, the TH won. Still think the BK2 and BK9 are more versatile and both will get the chopping job done, but for pure chopping, the TH is really effective.

machax doesn't have an e :)

Oh, bloody hecke. Good catche!

I liked the thread title. Made me chuckle :) Keep it real with those timeless tools of yours! Thanks for the pictures.

Title made me laugh. Good to see you using the 2. Widow makers SUCK ! I was atv-ing in Pa once. Had my daughter with me (my atv is designed from the factory for 2 persons) on the back. We went under a tree that was leaning across the trail, but wayyyyy up high. We stopped for a drink of water about 100 ft from it. It wasn't even leaning that far. Atv was off, quiet as can be & all of a sudden it came down, the entire tree. It was about 3' in dia & 70' tall. The whole ground shook. We sure learned a lesson that day. Thanks for the pics GK.

Holy smokes! That'll make a believer out of you.

I'm thinking of getting a trail hawk.

What are some pros and cons of it?

Thanks.

The only con I can think of is that it is made in not-America. Other than that, it's a pretty cool and inexpensive tool. Still like my Beckers better but it does its job well and can even look good (as Warrior amply demonstrates).
