So today I was at the bigboxstore that rhymes with ball-dart...bought a one dollar "stainless steel folding knife''.

brought it home, did a lil side-by-side testing.

The BK2 obviously looks like the top-favored contender. The big American is fixing to whup the Chinese immigrant's booty all over my backyard! ;)

First up, a lil batoning action with 1''x pine...

Oooops forgot abouts the thumbstud...I already ''broke'' it

That's how far I got before I broke the handle off...

Now the BK2 tries out the pine

one whack to set it, second whack splits it. The Big Becker made short work of the puny pine(no surprise here)

Next, lil blade strength test

VERY lil pressure...broke the thing AGAIN! (I think that's breakage #3)

All I succeeded to do with the BK2 was gouge a hole out of the ol' tie

So I used a crack to drive it deeper...was TORQUING on it with both hands...felt the tie giving so I gave up, didn't bother the 2.

All in all I was even more disappointed by the china blade then I anticipated...I figgered it would last a LITTLE bit better then it did.

I decided to baton the 1$ knife in half to symbolize my disgust

Whacked the blade across the flat about 6 times...put a deepish groove in the china steel each whack, can kinda make them out in the pic...chopped almost all the way through some steel pin thingy that was hidden in the handle.

put a lil ''ding'' in the edge. damaged my BK2 more then I would have thought it would lol

I kinda used overkill...I shoulda whupped the folder's arse with my BK14 lol woulda been a tiny bit more ''fair''

Wow....I would have thought that $1 knive could have battoned a whole pile of wood! What a ripoff...lol

There's a technique for battoning folders. Once you set the blade then release the lock and let the handle rotate and sit parallel to the wood. Then grip the handle so your fingers couldn't get cut and start beating it. I still doubt that little guy would be lasting ver long tho :D

I just threw that very same small fart knife away yesterday, found my 3 year old trying to "carve" with it.

trust me, u shoulda broke it first LOL was the best bang for buck entertainment value I've found inna while!

Here, literally bang for your buck, only cost one of 'em.
Not surprised. BTW I knew exactly which big box store you got that from when you said "1$ Folder".
:D

You guys have this all wrong. The clip stayed on the $1 blade. He should have batoned with the clip. The foreign markets have the clip strength down to an art. :)

The BK2 never stood a chance.....it doesn't have a clip.

Lol. To be fair, you probably should have gone through 50 of those $1 knives. Held up exactly as I'd expect though.

I was kinda peeved I didn't manage to break the pesky clip. That's usually the First thing I bend/break onna pocketknife, I take em off usually...not a big fan of the clip.

It was so much fun I might buy more import crap ''knifes'' just to break lol

Companies piss me off...Gerber, Buck makes taiwan blades now, freakin Taylor-rotinhell-INC destroyed the Schrade/Old Timer/Uncle Henry names. So much rage, so many blades I could destroy.

I would return it to Walmart and tell them this is what happened when you tried to cut a steak. It would be worth it just to see the look on their face. Bonus points if you get the deer in headlight shot.

Hey Thrillbilly, I've got an idea...
Everytime you go shopping at Wal-Mart you should pick out one item when you get home, at random, and then beat the hell out of it with the BK-2. I garauntee that this thread would live on forever in infamy!!

I.E. First Week: cheap-o alarm clock
Second Week: can of pork'n beans
Third week: a whole frozen chicken

And so on and so forth...
I for one would stay tuned just to see what comes next!!
