Hmm. Chopping wood with a knife = small knick, yes.
Yah, wood can hide all sorts of things inside it. Nails, bullets, glass, sand, rocks, wire, thick knots, and so on... Even processed woods like particle board and lumber can have shards of metal or other fragments in them. If its just a small "nick" its no big deal, it happens, and can happen with any edged tool. Sharpen it out and keep on keeping on. If you are that concerned with it post up some pictures for us to seeI recently had a ding in my BK2 when it came in contact with a rock, my fault, Sharpened out easy!
