Ok so this is my first thread and post in knife section. I have seen that people have started getting the BK22 and some have commented on the sheath. It might be to early for many people to weigh in on this, but I have been in the market for a BK2 (already got cocobolo scales from tommythewho) but before I pull the trigger was wondering if it would be worth it to go for the BK22. Does anyone have both sheaths and want to weigh in on what the see the plus and minuses being as well as potential for customizing. Thanks a lot for any input.

I can't directly answer your question, but perhaps I still have something useful to say?
I recently bought a BK-2, and decided not to get a BK-22. Instead, I got the older model with the FRN sheath, and also bought a Spec Ops sheath. Most of the time the knife lives in the Spec Ops, which I am Very happy with. There are times, however, when I know that I will spend much of the night in and out of waist deep water. Here, the FRN sheath shines - water rolls right off of it, so my clothes dry out quickly near where I carry it, and I don't have to worry about throwing a soggy knife sheath in a pack with my other gear. Best of all, rinsing muck off of the FRN sheath is as simple and shaking it back and forth in the water (I ripped off the FRN sheath's webbing dangler).
That said, if I had to choose just one sheath, I'd get the BK-22. The new sheath is very similar to the Spec Ops one. It has a storage pouch, which is great for keeping a pocket sharpener and a back up compass, it doesn't dangle horizontally as soon as you unbuckle the retention strap around the handle, and it doesn't kill your thumb every time you try to draw the knife like the FRN sheath does.

Here is a thread where someone recently received the BK22 with the new sheath, it may prove helpful.

Personally the stock injection molded BK2 sheath is a big favorite of mine and I wish all the Becker had similar sheaths. The dulling issues were pretty easy to fix, and the retention, while very strong, was also something that could be changed if needed. Floppy belt loop is easy to fix if you put a little thought into it or replace it with a Tek Lok as well.

Thanks guys. Ya the dulling was my biggest concern for the BK2 sheath but I had been reading in the other threads about the fixes, such as take a file to the inside etc... The pouch does interest me on the bK22 but I have seen so many BK2 sheaths customised with attached pouches anyways that I dont know if it is enough to get me to go that way

Ended up going with the BK2, just because i think I could customize it a bit more among other things.

No difference in the blades, just the sheaths.
