Just got a 24 in and it feels heavier, plus it does not fit into my bk14 custom sheath. What gives? Is it thicker...mine sure seems that way...

With my cheap vernier caliper (the Starrett is at home) I get

BK24 blade thickness .155" / blade width (cutting edge to spine) 1.085" / thickness at handle .165"

BK14 blade thickness .153" / blade width (cutting edge to spine) 1.077" / thickness at handle .168"

not different by very much...

Thanks i appreciate it... Hmm, well the 14 sheath fits like a glove, real tight and secure. almost ejects it as i pull it out, the 24 will go in but i have to force it and it doesnt snap into place like the 14. Sucks i bought it just for the sheath and scales i got from cam but now it looks they will stay with the 14.

Yes it is, i know i could use a hair dryer and loosen her up a little but i really dont want to, the fit is so perfect with the 14 and i want to keep it that way, Oh well i love my 14 anyway i just liked the more silver look.

Also my 24 arrived with "rust" spots on handle and blade, they brillo padded out thought. The grind is also different on both sides. All in all i was much happier with the bk14 purchase honestly and have already wiped the 24 down with some oil and put her away for the long haul.

I had some of those spots on mine too, not sure if they were rust or something from manufacturing.. it seemed kind of gummy to me.

Mine appear to be exactly the same minus the coating, Maybe you got one with an off grind?

Hmmm thats weird yours are the same minus the coating and cold's 24 is very slightly thicker even with the coating....

The grind is definetly not the same on both sides. one side has noticeably more of an edge than the other. to get it even i would have to remove a nice bit of metal. and this is d2 so i hear its more of a pain to sharpen, and right now im just using stones and strops and id rather not even bother.

Its one of my cheaper knife purchases lately so im not that bothered, ill just stow it away like its a collector and go on with the tried and true bk14.
