Hey guys,

Had a quiet weekend finally and some down time. Had these oversized fire steels laying around and knocked these out. They are Aussie hardwood handles and the 24 carved through the wood like butter. This is a great blade.

They're a bit rough, but that was the intention to be able to use them as tinder if needed.

THE WOOD - Yellow box.

Looks good! Was the spine of the 24 sharp enough to strike the ferro rods? I already grind the spines of my backers for that reason

Thanks man and No, I need to square it off with a file. I'll use these with the BK2.

Lovely work brother! You'll have to come up with a way to add a carry method to a sheath now. Dubz idea with the cable clamps would probably work depending on the diameter of the fire steels. Speaking of which, where did you pick them up? The rods I mean. I'd like to try something like that too. Onya Gas. Love them Ipe scales on the 24 as well.

Forgot to add: did you just cut down that Yellow Box to close to the right size with a saw then carve the rest with the 24 or did you use a branch that was close to the right size them just do some shaping?

Thanks mate. I cut them from that piece in the pic with a saw into smaller pieces then used the 24 to carve them down, then sandpaper. The rods I've had for ages. From memory EBay?

They are intentionally a bit rough because I intended to use the handles as tinder if I ever need to. Next lot I do I'm just gonna use beeswax. Got a tin of it here.

I really like the rustic look you've got going there mate. Looks handmade. As for the tinder, as you should know, when you're out in our bushland, you'll have trouble NOT catching everything on fire. Awesome work brother. I always look forward to your posts/threads..
