I've been enjoying the pics of the Machax folks are posting. If I had a different life, like where there were more than 3 trees in my yard, I'd own one.

I also love the look of the Tac Tool, but can't figure out where it would fit in my life.

Who owns one? What do you do with it?

Let's see some pics of it in action.

Old article however:
Jared Karlin, 30, a sign language interpreter in St. Louis, began collecting knives when he was about 12. He now has nearly three dozen fixed and folding blades for which he paid a total of about $5,000.

“I’m not carrying a knife as a weapon,” Karlin emphasized. “I carry it as a tool. I use it daily for some of the most mundane stuff you can imagine — from cleaning under my fingernails, to cutting open that blister pack from the big box store, to opening the mail. I’m always finding a use for it.”

He recently used his knife to help in an emergency.

He was driving with his mother in north St. Louis County and came upon a car that had crashed into an Interstate 270 barrier.

When an off-duty firefighter asked for something with which to pry open a car window, Karlin was ready. He handed over his Becker 3, a sturdy, 7-inch fixed blade used for prying doors and breaking glass. The firefighter broke open a window, cut the victim’s seat belt and pulled him from the car. The crash victim survived

I've used my sharpened prybar, the BK3,
- to cut string and rope
- dig holes in the ground to plant plants
- pry a few boards of a fence
- wedge chicken wire loose from a rabbit cage I tore apart
- as an ice pick to break up a bag of refrozen ice
- open bags of peat moss, fertilizer, dog food, etc.

And that was just the first week I had one.

I use mine for any task I can think of. Sometimes I make up things do use it on.

Usually when I have to replace sections of our rabbit hutches I will use my BK-3 to pry off the sections of old plywood.

It is not something I use everyday but I am glad to have it.

Wow! I've never seen that! Cool.

Hangs out under my truck front seat. It's pryed a smashed fender off a tire on a car that needed to drive away from an accident, it's cut straps and rope, duct tape, tarp, and whatever else I need it to.

The BK-3 is quite a versatile tool. We took mine out one day to play in the woods. Here's the result.

Actually, it is one of my 4 most used knives.

Good stuff all. I may NEED to get one for my truck.
Very cool story Cbear, and great thread and pics Doc.

mine's in my glove box. i recently used it to tear out my old front door to make room for the new one. i don't use it often. it's more like a piece of mind thing for me really.

Great video, though I was kind of hoping it was going to include "Gunyon" being shaved into chest hair.

Took out this errant tree limb. 11 chops, and a small flick to separate the bark. Very nice. Love this thing for yard work. But its going back in the truck.
