All righty Then,
Sorry all, Boys with toys... I couldn't resist just a couple. A few 5" and the larger piece in these pics a full 7" across center. Worse yet these are cut from a tree that fell eight days ago, so it was wet
. But as a quick test why not, I do not like to play and knew the knife would have to take a beating to get through this but that is what it is all about. So I am a believer!!!! Generally I would never split or baton anything over 5 1/2" preferred. But wanted to try a bigger one. I put the scales right up against the piece and nearly perfect through center. Bombs away! The knife did like most dive tip first while beating on. But the nice flat Butt works well, just beat it back in. I did not think the scales were slippery at all. However, and hard rubber like scale for me would be nice to remover some of the shock that can be felt with hollow scales. It would IMO help with the back end weight just a bit. The scales did come loose in my 30 minutes of play but fully understandable, since I had to beat on the back end of the knife without regards to damaging the scales, Yes Hollow But Tough.
PS: Last photo illustrates the breath of the 7" timber down the middle
This was a mini test, after a couple of camping outings I will give another review.......
