So who owns one of these unusual looking kukri-type blades, and are you satisfied with it for whatever your intended purpose is? I've considered getting one but the slender portion of the blade near the handle leaves me concerned regarding overall durability.

I've never heard of one breaking under normal use of that is what you're asking. I think the 4 will be my next Becker, It seems like it'll round out my collection nicely.

asking in this forum if a Becker is good is like going to a bakery and asking if their cakes are good :D

The BK4 chops well enough but I found it excels as a draw knife.

Agreed..I also noticed that it chops very well into living wood but not as well into dead seasoned wood. The snap cut method is a must with this blade but it will serve you well. Unfortunately mine won't get a lot of use as I rather use my BK9 as i find it more useful over all...however the BK4 is still a hell of a lot of fun.

I love my 4. I've beat on it pretty hard with no issues. And Kabars customer service would surely help you out even if you manage to break it( pretty slim chance). Get one you won't regret it.

I wish the BK4 blade was 3-4 inches longer... now that would be cool!

I do like it as a compact, lightweight chopper tho but I find it needs a little more finesse / technique to use really well.

Stop pussy-footing around and get one! Trust me, you won't be disappointed. I used both my BK-4 and 9 in the chopping contest at Beckerhead West gathering and I had a much better time with the 4 (about 20 seconds faster). King fans....don't get upset, I got love for the 9 as well.....just putting an example of the efficency the 4 provides me. Being in the PNW, the 4 suits my needs a bit better (due to it's hatchet like performance). The only thing that caught me off gaurd when I purchased one was it's size. In all the pictures it looked larger than it actually is. Don't fret though...it's a chopper for sure.

Even if you dont buy one immediately........if you keep haning out here, it will end up in your shopping-cart sooner or later.
