I just discovered the BK21 Becker/Rheinhardt Kukri!!! I like how it looks and read some reviews that were positive. However, does anybody know firsthand, how it compares to the BK4 Machax? I have several Beckers, including the Machax, and each purchase has been an improvement over the last. Will this be the case with the BK21 as well?

Thank you!!

BK-21 outchops the 4. Have both. But it is a lot bigger so I can't see carrying it on my belt. I don't see them as direct competitors. The 4 is no slouch though.

I personally like the BK4 better. It chops well, and is much lighter, and easier to carry.

Same here. 21 for a vehicle or camp set up situation but not for carrying on my belt. I'm not a huge fan of the 4 but it is lighter than the 21 but I still prefer my 9 to either.

The 4 and the 21 complement each other well. I view the 4 as a great belt knife (a little on the large side but not bad). It chops really well for its size, but also can do small tasks really well.

The 21 on the other hand is a brute of a chopper. You *could* to smaller tasks with it but that's not its strength.

My go-to woods trio are the 16 (small), 4 (medium), and 21 (large).

I never thought Id see the BK4 referred to as a "belt knife" or "medium!" LOL!

Right?!?!? I know what you mean. But if I only can have 1 knife in the woods on my belt, it's the Machax. My leather dangler sheath helps it ride better. And I'm a big dude so that helps. :-)

Here's the thing - sure the 21 can outchop the 4 - IT'S A LOT BIGGER! You want to go bigger? How about a 22" Himalayan Imports Ganga Ram? I would guess it would outchop the 21. Understand, I'm not slagging the 21. I'm sure it's a good blade, but it doesn't compare to the Becker Machax when you consider the ease of transport and versatility (chopping, small knife tasks, draw knife, bottle cap remover :)). When Ethan designed the Machax, he hit it out of the park.

Yes. The 4 is a very good all around blade design.
