BK4 vs Pipe Hawk

I have a pipe hawk and I like the look of the BK4 but am curious. I don't know if I want to spend the extra money to get a tool that will essentially do the same type of work as a tool I already own. Anyone own both? Any opinions would be greatly be appreciated.

PS- I ordered my BK16 a couple of days ago and it should be here soon.

PPS- For those that remember, the police still have not found my BK2 with Hedgehog Leatherworks Sheath

Pipe hawks are awesome. Smoke your drugs out of em then chop shit. I don't reckon you can do that with a bk4.

:D I was being serious! I've been wanting to pick up a real pipe hawk, just can't find one that speaks to me yet.

Good argument but I think my PD and the Army would have a problem with that choice. :) Plus my pipe hawk is from CS so it is unsmokable without heavy mods.

dude, you can get those all day at any gunshow....they even say "for tobacco use only"
I guess if you are ready to hack a dude up, smoking some "tobacco" will calm your nerves and possibly change your mind!

Don't ask.

Don't tell.

Don't piss in a cup. Unless there is a gun pointed at a vital area, and the guy behind the trigger looks upset or unstable, then, you might want to piss in that cup, but don't give them the start or the end, make sure its in the middle somewhere.

:D

Oh the local PD, darn why didn't I think about them . I must reconsider my need for a pipe hawk now. :p

On a more serious note, I've never been a fan of pipehawks. They seemed to have a flaw, in the fact that the handle is hollow, long with the "pipe" portion. Knowing my big, stupid self the way I do, I would wind up breaking it or tearing it up.

I own a Trailhawk, in which I find most of the hawk features I want. Its got a good hammer pole, and its light enough to actually carry. I find those hawks with the "combat spike" are a but over done. I have never needed a spike on the back of my tomahawk, so, I find them fairly useless.

I have used the hammer pole on my Trailhawk for quite a few things.

My BK4 hasn't seen any use yet, as I have been a little occupied, but the ones I've owned before, offer more versatility than a hawk.

1) There is more surface area, so, when chopping, its more forgiving.
2) BK4 will have a harder Rc, and serves as both chopper and knife. Some guys can use a hawk head pretty well, but I think the grind is too thick to make a good knife
3) Draw knife techniques can be done with a BK4, not so much with a hawk head.

You could always hot-knife your "tobacco" with 2 machaxes. You would need very large cajones to attempt it though lol. Plus you might ruin the heat treat.
