I just scored a BK5 on the exchange. It was a good deal but did not come with a sheath. What sheath does the bk5 come with? Is it the same sheath as the bk9 or bk7? Does anyone know where I can get the sheath only? Or is there a substitute sheath that will work for it? I am not looking to spend too much for a higher end custom sheath at this time. Thanks for any input.

If I'm not mistaken; the BK5 is meant to be slid in to the meaty portion of the thigh just under the skin. This is to be done multiple times until a sort of internal sheath / callus forms not unlike Wolverine from the X-men with his claws. I could be wrong. If I was then I would say that most of the larger BK's come with a stock nylon sheath just like the 7 and 9 (size dependent). I had an extra one that I just gave away otherwise I would help you out. Best bet would be to sink it in to your thigh and if that doesn't work then contact Ka-bar and the ER.

It fits the bk7 sheath, but if you want something a little better look at the spec ops combat master long sheath

I have an extra spec ops sheath that fit the 5... Coyote brown, very clean,pm me if interested

Spec Ops sheaths are excellent if you're into the nylon sheaths. I prefer, but can't always afford, custom leather. Good luck finding what you need!

Darksidedenny, I can't pm so I tried leaving you a visitor message on your profile page. It might be easier if you just email me. Thanks.

Rkmoore, I prefer the traditional look of leather sheaths myself. On knives w/ cosmetically pleasing scales like wood, etc, I splurge and get a nice leather sheath. On my users that are more about efficiency than cosmetics, I usually go w/ kydex for its ruggedness and convenience. But my bk5 will prob not be carried too much. It is more to have around the house for food prep and to continue my growing collection of Becker steel. For this reason I am just looking for the stock sheath or its aquivalent. Thanks for the input.

Northeastkydex1 on ebay has a BK-5 kydex sheath for $35 brand new.

I have a few of his sheaths. There are awesome.

Thanks everyone for the input. GSOM is hooking me up w/ an extra sheath for now. If it becomes a user that I am going to carry a lot, I will prob get a custom kydex for it. Thx to all!

kydex would be a better carrying option. I molded the top of the plastic insert of the stock sheath on mine to eliminate some rattle but it made the blade to sink lower and pierce the bottom; last time I carried it and while sitting in a car, fumbling with it to accomodate on my side the tip gave me a nice slice on a finger. Might have to try Tankerwolf's method o_0

Yes granitestateofmind is hooking me up with an extra sheath. Thanks for all the generious offers guys. It's really cool how many people on the forum and more specifically the Becker sub forum that are willing to help out. I look forward to the opportunity to pay it forward. The five is stripped and patiently waiting for its stainless hardware and pants.

Just another reason why this community is so awesome.
