So we got about 8" of snow which shuts down all of the Raleigh-Durham area. I lost power around midnight and got it back around 5pm. My daughter and I left the house in the morning and returned about noon to grab some provisions check on the animals, etc., then head back to a friends house. I went to grab something out of the Camry and to my great surprise there was a package in the front seat! This tiny one horse town has some of the best postmen ever!





It's my only stamped Becker. Fine with me as I don't plan on this really seeing chopping duties, I have other Beckers for that. Seems Ka-bar is moving old stock? Does anyone have an etched 5? Keep seeing folks getting stamped ones here lately.
Anyway, its my next project, can't wait to get started!

the 5 chops pretty well, considering it's a Persian

my postman is a moron, possibly worse... spends more time probaly scrawling a package pickup form, than it would have taken him to fly up my driveway and put the book package into my side door. nope. ups does it. fedex does it. usps? can't be bothered. we had a good guy, but they hired a temp moron who is more interested in getting home early.
 
That's just sad, guess I'm lucky, he leaves packages in whatever car is in the driveway, one Saturday I asked him about a package that showed delivered and he remembered it, went to the house he left it at and brought it back the same night. He's a local though.

Oh, don't get me wrong, she'll see some chopping action for playing around but I'm not gonna go crazy with it.

Yes, next project to strip and leather scales to match my 15.

I plan on a progressive detailed thread. Got lots of catching up to do around the house due to the weather but soon I hope!

As someone else mentioned, getting a roll-stamped 5 is quite common and gives you an idea how slowly they sell. All of my 5's are roll-stamped. I'll probably ask Dex to send me a laser-etched 5 on my next order just so I can have examples of each.

But don't let that stop you from chopping with it. As I understand it, roll-stamped breakage isn't common and usually results from extreme use.
 
Congrats!! It sure seems to stop UPS! I ordered a rifle two weeks ago. Still not here! They say "due to weather":mad:

Sorry if I wasn't very clear, I wish my leather scales looked this perfect lol..I already gotem started though and hope to getter stripped tonight. But thanks for having that kinda faith in me lol! I will be posting pics and stuff on that project as soon as it gets a little further along.




MTURBO, sorry to hear that, maybe it'll be there today in time for the weekend. I know out my way, when those boys get backed up like, that its no suprise for them to show up at 7:00 with packages. Good luck with that!

Sounds like the etched ones are actually the less common? We're all getting the norm...
 
Now that's service! Congrats on the blade man, that thing is super slicey. I noticed you got the smooth finished blade as well - even sweeter.

Thanks! I do like the smooth but its getting stripped today. Shaping new scales removed quite a bit around the handle so I'm pretty much committed.

Talk about slicing, my daughter asked me "you need another knife?", I replied "watch this!"...
Tossed a potato in the air and took a swipe at it. It dropped straight down. She said "nice try",
I picked up the potato and it was split right in half dangling by a sliver of peel, to which she replied "wow! I thought you missed!" I blew it off like I was a badass dad and there's nothing to it...I thought I missed too
