BK5 - To strip or not to strip...?

I got this bad boy recently and just put a crazy edge on her and man oh man is she sharp. I had no idea how thin the blade actually was and I really want to turn this into a dedicated kitchen blade as many of you have. However, I am not sure whether or not to leave the coating on the blade for this purpose. If I strip it, I will have to force a patina on it, no doubt... What do y'all think?

Gotta have a pic or this thread is useless.

If it's only going to be your kitchen knife then leave it be, no point to strip and worry about rust in the kitchen.

and if you do strip it, just cut up a bunch of red meat, and the patina will do itself

wash it with hotsauce and wait and wipe off to be complete ;)

Solely kitchen use? Leave the coating on. Other stuff too? Take it off

Forced patina's are so, last year.

lol. Such a hipster...

To all: Can the bk5 actually be used for splitting wood? Is it too thin? Is it light enough to pass as a combat? or should I get the tweeners instead?
BTW: I want a 17... you hear me Moose? I want a 17!

O it can be used for many many things

Good deal.. I'll leave the coating on for now. That may change down the road... :D Thanks fellas.

Strip it then use it for everything. Unless your using it for chemicals or something toxic, just soap and water before kitchen use.
