  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Bk5

It can chop all right but it's more like the chopping ability of a smallish machete. If you want more weight, power, & percussion behind a chop, the BK-9 beats it by a good deal.

It doesn't just open envelopes....it will open the hardcore Priority Mail packages too!

(I don't REALLY hate the BK5...its just become my own little inside joke)

Sure can - but it's not in the same league as a Bk9 or a kukri obviously. You need to give it some finesse too - it's not mass, it's speed and snap cutting with the bottom 1/3 (handle) to mid of the blade that works for me.
For it's weight, it's an excellent chopper and if you want better performance you need to go thicker, heavier and longer and usually at the cost of cutting ability which the BK5 excels at.

I keep considering one too, but a leather sheath and alternate scales hold me back. Anyone have pics of mods they've made?

there's several photo reviews by now of people using the 5 hard, like it was borrowed/stolen.

from chopping seasoned oak limbs, to slicing tomatoes, to devastating thorn bushes, to feather sticks, batoning through a log, to gutting a fish, iirc :)
