finally took the plunge and bought one. wrestled for the longest time whether i should get the 7 or the 9. figured since i would probably use it during trapping, hunting and flyfishing seasons the 7 should cover the spectrum pretty well. i really like the blade width and shape of the 9 better but wasn't sold on the 9" length. i guess if i do not like the 7 i can sell it and get the 9 (if there will be any left after this camillus crisis is over...).

*pets my Bk10 sleeping in its sheath*:D

I'm sure you'll love the 7, all of them seem to be great

Dont worry after getiing the 7 you wont sell it but you will still probably add the 9 and then you'll find you need the 10 and now for some reason or another you just gotta have that 2.

sdt - you are right after recieving my bk 7 i do not think i will sell it, and will add the 9 sometime soon i hope.
i did not realize the handles felt like porcelin. i took mine off and put some ash scales on there, made the handle a little slimmer and it looks a little "old time-ish". i think i will enjoy this knife.

I unlike most like the looks of the black blade but after opening a few cans of beans and soup at the camp site the black coating was coming off and getting into my grub! Taste horrible! so i removed it on my 7 and polished the blade and Blued it with cold blue. Looks better than the standard painted look of the black coating but the 7 is the only one i did this to.

I have the BK71 (desert camo version of the 7). The coating did not last long when put to camp chores.

Like sdt11670, I removed the coating. I finished mine with 220 grit on the belt then P500 by hand and left it at that. I'm in the process of replacing the coated plastic slabs with brown micarta.

I posted a pic in this thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=406346

Enjoy the BK7! It'll surprise you. Its one tough bugger that is severly under rated.
