Bk7 edge angles

Hi everyone,

I was modding my bk24 a bit today giving it a nice polish, in the process ruined the edge a little trying to get the machining lines out, boy they're deep! Anyway not to worry as I wanted to re profile it anyway. I think I'm going to give it around a 17 degree edge as it'll only be used for finer tasks.

It however got me thinking about my bk7 I think it's time to get rid of it factory as it'll be used quite a bit soon. What angles do you guys all use? Do you stick with the 20 degree angle or do you up it? I've read a bit on the Internet that a general knife has around a 25-30 degree angle so I wanted to get a feel for what would suit it well. I'll be using it for general chopping, cutting and batoning bushcraft/woodsman tasks. I was thinking 22.5 - 25 degrees.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

20 (40 degree inclusive) works well on my large Beckers.
Anything higher seems too obtuse for my liking.

I have a 15 degree(30 degree inclusive) edge on my BK11.
It's a laser beam.

A lot of folks around prefer convex edges on their choppers.
The good 'ol V-edge suits me the best.
I'd say experiment and see what feels best to you.
But you cant go wrong with the 40 degree inclusive edge for general knife work.

Thanks for the replies. I quite like the 20 degree angle tbh, if a lot of you stick with it, might be worth putting it through its paces at 20 and take it from there.

I've been tempted to try to convex it but it looks hard to do so and I really don't want to ruin it by not doing it properly :(
