hello peoples.
from all the great recommendations and hype about BKTs i am gonna score myself a BKT7
and one of the total plus points is that its handle is hollow and can store a PSK
a few questions regarding this because i ever so intend to do this once the blade arrives...
- is putting all that stuff in the handle actually advisable or does it compromise some quality of the knife that i have not heard of
- anyone have the website or link to the thread where it shows pics and all how to disassembe the BKT7 or so to fit all the stuff in it?
thanks :)

PS the one issue i have wiht the knife is that it is fully black. its a cosmetic thing to me i dont like a fully black knife... anything i can do to alter or correct this? is it advisable? cos i hear the exposed steel does rust easily...

perfect thats exactly the link i was looking for :) ... does having a survival kit in the handle get in the way of the knife's performance in any way, though?

thanks again

No It does not.In fact if you seal it right you won't have water running out of the handle if you take a dunk or are washing blood and gunk off. :D

Marcus please excuse me for being a dunder head.:o I did not look at your location. It’s been a few year’s since I’ve been to Malaysia{in fact one of my employee’s is back their visiting family}.Any way I’d leave the Black coating on just because of the Monsoon season and the prolonged humidity I would also coat the screw thread’s with Grease, Vaseline or Silicone to prevent them from rusting. I would also cut with a hacksaw a slot for a screw driver on top of the screw as a driver would be easier to find than an Allen Key, but do this only if it’s going to be a field knife and not a collectable.

for all the tips, definately valuable, of course my BK will be a field knife :) yeah. humidity is a pain here. my knives have so much vaseline on them its not funny,
marcus
