I am slowly trying to get all MY knives set-up in kydex. LOL I only have about half my Beckers properly clad. The rest languish in factory sheaths, or no sheaths at all.

Been working on a dangler sheath, hashing ideas out in my noggin, finally got it translated to kydex today. The BK7 is fast becoming one of my favorites, and I figgered it needed a sheath.

I have seen many danglers....dont care for the bolt on options, seems bulkier and harder/slower to change from one carry style to the next. I like the dangler belt carry, but tomorrow I may want to carry it horizontal with a teklok or mount it to a pack with MOLLE locks. Or simply lash some 550 on it so I can use it for my attachment mount. I didnt want to be removing parts all day when I changed carry styles...or use a lot of tools.

The ring folds up with a secure ''snap'' and makes the sheath barely different then a conventional pancake.

In Dangler position

I played around a bit, decided how low I wanted it to hang, then made up a belt loop, to complete the dangler package. It is molded around the ring, but not riveted....so I can (with some effort) pop the ring out of the top portion. It is secure during carry though.

I can also clip a shoulder strap onto the ring, making it a baldric rig, or put a carabiner thru it, to clip on my belt or a pack.

It's a prototype so it aint the prettiest thing in the world....but it works. So I declare it a success LOL

I really like the flexibility you built in so you can carry it different ways. Nice work, TB.

nice dress belt.
you gotta make a proper 1.5"+ kydex belt for that baby now. :-)

That's a double thickness Dickies work belt. I dont own any dress clothes so I dont need a dress belt LOL.

Actually I DID buy one pair of khakis awhile back. But I don't own a tie. Or a blazer/suit coat.

The day I'm able to crank a sheath out like this I'll give you all $1000 (Zimbabwean hahaha)...Great work Thrill, cant wait to see the REAL one.

Now Im trying to figure out what I wanna put on it. Im adding some 550 I know...was debating making a kydex altoid tin holder, or lashing a small pouch to it. I dunno. Maybe a leg strap?

First off lemme say I LIKE THAT SHEATH!! Prototype or not, that looks awesome!

As far as additions, I'd say throw a firesteel loop / bic lighter loop along with a leg strap. The altoid tin holder is a good idea too as long as it wouldn't rattle in the kydex. That would be annoying as hell, but if you can get it to stay quiet, throw it on there. To be valuable, any outdoors equipment carried should provide a few different functions in my book. Load that bad boy down...and be sure to post pics! :D

Thrill,
That came out sweet, your sheaths are getting better and better, I really like simplicity and not alot of stuff cluttering the sheath, you nailed it on this, I like the post where someone said a fire steel and a bic lighter attachment would be a good idea but modular so it can be taken off. I will be hitting you up for one when I get home from vacation.

Went with 550, now I have some spare cordage...and a place to run a belt if I wanna carry it that way. And with a carabiner or grimlock at the top and bottom, a pretty fast way to attach it to a pack.

Thanks for the compliments fellers, I appreciate it.

As for the 'steel/lighter attachments.....well. I make them, people like them...I just dont personally like a lot of stuff on my knife, a sheath is for carrying my knife not a mini-backpack LOL

If I find the right size pouch I may add one of those later. But I carry a PSK on me when I'm ''off-asphalt'' so I'm covered there. I prefer to have the PSK on ME rather then on my blade, especially a large blade. Once I get set-up in camp I may leave my large knife hanging at camp while I explore around....so I dont wanna get out and need my FAK or a lighter and realize it's back on my knife.

But that's just MY take on the matter. LOL I'm more then happy to set up a customer's sheath how THEY want it.

PSK= Personal Survival Kit. Basically a belt pouch with fire and 1st aid gear.
