BK7 micarta scales cheaper than amazon?

try tomars

better edit that price out in the next 15 minutes ;)

Actually, the scales sold on Amazon are sold by Tomar's. Tomar's is a place you can trust to be reliable. The few places I've found who sold those micarta scales cheaper are unknown quantities. Not worth the risk for a few bucks off, as far as I'm concerned.

he's one of the vendors. they come, they go.

tomar told me that anytime he lists something, there seems to be either an automated process or a staffer who creates a listing for the same item, for pennies less. weird but true.

Yep, Tomars is the best place to get the Kabar micarta as far as I'm concerned.

That is odd.

Hmmmm, That could very interesting to play with. I wonder how quick they are to do that?

I was going to get a set of those micarta scales for my BK-11 but I couldn't find them priced less than I paid for the knife.

No. I'm not going to pay more for handle scales than I did for the freakin' knife. No no no.

So I just wrapped the handle with some OD green paracord.

First of all, I can understand not wanting to pay more for the scales set than the knife, but I know of at least one place that has BK-11 sets for about $27 plus shipping. The current lowest price I can find for a BK-11 shipped online is about $32.

Besides, the direct knife/aftermath Micarta grip set comparison is apples and oranges economically anyway. Kabar Becker knives are relatively inexpensive because they are made mostly by automated machinery by the thousands per run out of a steel alloy that Kabar buys by the train load. Economy of scale is a HUGE factor.

The Micarta stocks that are offered for the knives, whether made by Kabar's supplier or other smaller custom outfits are NOT factory made in large runs with a lot more hand finishing and labor to create them...

Have you priced a good leather sheath for a Becker lately? Same thing..

I got my BK-11 off ebay from a seller who had them for $25 with free shipping.

Ok, a bit off topic but if you can you can definetly make you own. A pice of micarta (regular colours ie. black, OD, natural) only costs about 15 bucks or less and you should be able to get more than one set of scales made from that.

$25 is hardly a normal price for a BK11. Maybe in 2005 is it was..

If you were given one free as a gift ,I guess by your economic reasoning you must have a free set of scales as well?

You are being penny wise and pound foolish.
