It's a special coating used when shipping, so there isn't any damage caused along the way! Haha... I've only stripped my 15 so far, I like the black coating on the 2 and 11, but once they're all beat to hell I'm sure I'll strip them as well!

I am taking out my bk7 this weekend with my 9 year old daughter. She wants to whack some branches off of some small trees I am cutting. It does a better job of this then the bk2 she has been using. Great knive.
