BK7 Pommel/skull-crusher difference?

I have a couple BK7's and just noticed that the pommels are different. Does anyone know when the pommels changed from a narrow one to a wider one?

What type of marks are on the blades?

Both are older BK7's stamped "BK&T Combat Utility 7" and "Camillus New York".

I’m thinking the smaller pommel was the early style. I could easily be wrong Just want to say both look Great! Nice work

Thanks - I can't believe I never noticed the pommels until now!!! I think you are right about the smaller one being the early style. I wish I could remember which one I got first

I can't remember when the switch but I can confirm the small pommel was first.

Whenever i see that narrow pommel, i just assume its a camillus. When i see the other i imagine it being a kabar. I didnt know camillus did both styles. Now i know not to assume.

Thanks. I always thought the big Beckers had one of the most comfortable handles of any production knife. The addition of micarta + some scalloping made them even better.

They look good. Yeah, smaller pommel would be earlier I'm pretty sure.
Did you do the choil jobs on both, or get them that way? I did the same (plus de-ramp) to my Kabar version.

I bought both of them new many years ago. However, I just added the choils a few days ago, and that was when I noticed the different pommels.

I cannot remember when we switched but, I do remember why....

The smaller pommel got me in the ribs one too many times and as a target for a baton it was harder to hit....Not a hard decision to make...LOL.....
