bk7 ? pretty good deal!

I recently picked one up just to have a fairly cheap large FB knife around. Hey, I am a city boy and all of my other knives are under 4" for legal carry. I figured a larger blade could come in handy, and when I buy my new(used) car after graduation I plan to keep it as part of my car kit.

For the money I am very impressed with the knife. It came nice and sharp, I would say scalepel sharp but that wouldn't be desired in such a knife. I was able to use it to chop through some 2x3's in my basement without much trouble. I was still able to shave hair when I finished too! I don't think I would want it to be my only tool if I was planning on going out and doing a lot of choping though.

If I had just ordered the BK9 I would seriously consider either the BK10:

or the Campanion:

rather than the BK7. I had a little extra money and I ordered the BK7 and the BK10. The BK10 immediately became my new favorite. Compact, versatile, and sturdy--it will do everything that the Combat Utility will do. The BK7 is a fine blade and I love mine, but since you already have the 9" version I would suggest the little 5.5" brother. Or the Campanion if you want a prybar.

If I were only going to have one knife from Becker, it would definately be a BK7 though--it's the best compromise.

Both the Campanion and the BK9 are in my future though.

Regards, Vince
