So jacked about my 7 I had to get started on a sheath. I have done some fancy stuff but prefer heavy duty, heavy use sheaths. I feel good about putting product out there that should hold up very well.
For this sheath I decided to use some leather from SB Foot Tannery. They have supplied leather for goods made for our troops and is a current supplier to Red Wing Shoes. Long history.

This leather is med thick so I back it up by glueing some leather that is used by a large back pack company. The leather liner is waterproof as well. Very nice stuff. I made the sheath following the blade shape. On the thumb ramp I followed as well. To my surprise when the knife is put into the sheath the thumb ramp on the blade pops into place. If I would of known that I would of left the strap off. Oh well, I couldn't do that again on purpose if I wanted to.

Before, making pattern.

Very nice man. Always interesting to see the process, thanks for sharing. No such thing as too many photos around these parts.

Reading this thread sparked an old memory of my farther, he was upholsterer and worked with leather often. I remember siting on the basement stairs watching him make sheaths for two very old machete's. I though at the time that they were the coolest thing but now I realize that his craft was the coolest thing and not the knifes. Nice work and thanks for memory's Makael

Great job! Thank you for all the pics showing your process. :)

A year ago I tore the ACL tendon off my right thumb. I thought I was done making sheaths. It's amazing how you overcome things like that. With practice I work around it. I need to get it repaired but haven't found 3 months of time to have my right hand stretched out in a splint.

I knew this rhread was coming when I saw your 7 arrive... great to see :D
Beautiful work again buddy! And thank for documenting and sharing your proces. Very inspiring to see.
Enjoy your new knife.

I didn't know how the thumb ramp hump would look but I was trying to keep any additional width to a minimum. I don't mind it.
