Hello my name is K-Alan and I am a Becker addict ! Lol but really though I recently stumbled on to some videos of some Becker knives being used and abused without fail. Needless to say I'm hooked. First purchase was the bk15 because of the price point. Within a couple weeks I obtained a bk9! Now them I would very much like to find a combo piggy back sheath for the 9 and a 14. My questions are:
Is it worth it to carry both in one sheath while in the woods, hiking, bush crafting? Any experience with this?
Would it be better to carry one and have the other in your pack? Any experience with this?
Where can I get a sheath similar to the picture below?

Also not sure if it's against the rules to copy and paste this picture to this thread. So if I have broken the rules please forgive me and I will immediately take it off the thread thanks.

I'm not sure who made that one but azwelke and 710 are both pretty well known around here for Becker kydex - there are many others but those are two that are often in this sub-forum

Welcome K-Alan. Its great to have you here.

I would recommend Azwelke or 710. Both very talented Beckerhead sheath makers.

Azwelke is my personal favorite but 710 is awesome too.

The sheath you posted a picture of is made by Godspeed Tactical.

I have heard he has a long wait time on orders but looks like he makes great kydex too.

I dont think he is a bladeforums sponsor so I cant post his website but I am sure you can find him if you want now that you know his name.

Stick around and show us your new sheath when you get it!

So, I have mixed feelings on the subject of if you should piggyback knives like that.

On one hand its nice and convenient to have one thing on your belt. It means its literally just grab and go, etc.

The other hand is that the weakness is the same as the strength. You don't get to carry one without the other. This can be annoying when you want to do something and the size of the sheath doesn't permit it. Then you may have to take the sheath off your belt, and thus now you're down to zero knives on you.

So, I have a BK11 in my BK9 sheath, but honestly I never use it, its mostly just there. The BK9 rides my hip when I am at camp usually, but it is often in my pack as well. In that case, I would rather have a second sheath, so I can decouple the knives from each other.

Anyway, that probably didn't help at all, but I am honestly split on if I like them, and figured since you asked I'd at least mention why.

Good luck finding something that works for you :).

Yep, JD (710) is a regular here in the Becker sub. Great guy and Great kydex work. There is also Azwelke who will poke his head in and is also a Stand Up guy with Very good work.

The main reason I would carry a piggyback would be that I wasn't wearing a pack or didn't feel the need to have my 4/5/9 ready to go in a moments notice.
If I was going out for hike under 4 hours, and I brought Any pack, it would a small one that the large Becker wouldn't fit on/in. In That scenario I Might carry a 9/14 combo. Chances are in that smaller bag I would have a 2*/10/12 for a full size and a 15 on my hip with a SAK with a saw or folding saw (Bahco, Silky, Stihl, Husqvarna, etc...) in the pack as well.

9/14 piggyback with tin kit
OR
Or a small bag with smaller full size Becker, tweener on belt and saw in bag.

* I know the 9 weighs close to the 2 and Can fill more roles, but a smaller knife can be easier to carry regardless of weight.

For when I Would carry a piggyback set up, it would be for local outings where the chances of needing anything other than a fire and an emergency shelter are low. I would have a fire kit, some bullion cubes for a hot drink under the stars and maybe a meal replacement bar for walking out the next day.

Do they have their place? Yes.
Should I own one? Yes.
Do I own one? Not yet.

Maybe I will try making one, I have the kydex laying around.

Hmm...

Can anyone verify that cf black pattern on 710s website stands for carbon fiber pattern?
