So I've decided to get a BK9 as my main bushcraft/camping/survival knife. And I want to get her a little sister to accompany her on her grizzly outdoors sheath.

Should I get a BK11, BK13 or BK14 to go with her?

Thoughts?

Can't go wrong with any of those. I say the 14, a little more to grab onto. The BK9 will serve you well. It's just a hell of a good knife. Welcome to the forum.

I'd go with the 13 but make sure you make up a set of scales for it.

It makes a MASSIVE difference in the way the knife 'handles'.

A 14/24 will compliment the 9 very well. The 11 would be just the same just with a different grip. The 14 is a good compliment to the 9 because it balances size and weight with very good cutting ability all while being a very sturdy knife. I think the 14 is a good smaller sized crafting blade that can do well at other things like food prep and such.

I like how the 13 fits into the 9's factory sheath, but I like the 14 better. I would get both :D but if I were getting a custom sheath, I would go with the 14. Better edge holding and larger handle.

My favorite is the 11, but the others are all pretty good too. The micarta scales make the Necker more comfortable to me than my 14 with scales, although I carry the 14 often. You can't go wrong with any of those.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. I guess it's between the 11 and 14.....

11 is my favorite number.....

14 seems to have better grip....

I more than likely will just be wrapping the handles with paracord. Don't know it they'll fit with micarda handles in the sheath I'm getting. Would that affect your decision?

Wrapped in paracord, BK11 or BK14

It is a lot more comfortable with the micarta on the 11 for sure. I didn't like mine when I wrapped it. And on my 14, I liked the full size handles over the wrapping as well. Wasn't bad tho.
I guess It's personal preference. I do a lot of food prep and hunting with mine and don't like the idea of blood and guts absorbed into the paracord.

Good point, didn't think of the blood...

Where is a good place to get the handles from? Any dealers in Canada?

Not sure about Canada but Tomars ships to Canada I think.

It's not to hard to make your own scales too from wood or micarta.

Oh forgot to add something. If you want a really really good system throw a Victorinox SAK Farmer in there, or a Leatherman wave if you want pliers. Grab you a lighter or a ferro rod, then a good streamlight and you will be set bud! I have found one of the best companions to a large becker is not only a smaller knife but a good multitool.

With scales they're probably comparable I guess (both feel good but I prefer the 11), wrapped I like the 11 better without a doubt. I had my 14 wrapped for a couple of weeks and something about the ring didn't get along well with my pinkie.

I really only have a slight preference for the 14 over the 11 with scales on both, but just wrapped, I prefer the 14 by a larger margin. If scales will fit with the sheath though, I would buy a pair, regardless of which one you go with. I don't like my knives to store any more fish blood and fish smell than they do already.

Personally I like to pair a Mora Companion with my BK9 and a Leatherman. The 13 is just too small for my hands. I prefer the 14 over the 11 just because of the looks.

I bought the 14 for the exact reason u r considering the 11 or 14. I needed a companion to my 7 or 9....depending on which I'm toting. LOVE the 14.....especially wrapped in p-cord. U will definitely b happy with either one though :)
