I decided to try my BK9 out in the kitchen today. It performed like a dream.

First a Grapefruit.

The blade rocks really well when you grab the false edge.

A carrot.

Like a dream. It did not split the carrot at all.

After kitchen duty, I split some kindling. Max pics hit. She splits logs with no problems.

The BK9 Performed like a fine chef's knife. The geometry allowed for very thin cuts to be easily made. A great camp knife in every respect.

Hey Cody....

Thanks for the kind words and really GREAT pictures.......

Glad you are having fun......Be sure to get all the citrus juice off that edge !!!!!

Thanks again...

All Best...

I polished the edge, that's all. The geometry is all Ethan and ka-bar. The thing slices like a kitchen knife, then can go and split wood, or chop down a tree!

BK9 Rocks. I really want the BK77, but need to save. She is beautiful!!! Hoefully one can still be had. :D

Awsome !
Your post has made me seriously think about getting a BK-9.
I've tought of it as a sharpened pry bar,but I've been wrong !!! :)
Do you think that the price of $75 at Knifeworks is good ?

You can't go wrong with the BK9 (it's far from being a sharpened pry bar) and I think the Knifeworks price is very reasonable.

I think John will have to give me a coupon or something for advertising, but at tomars you can get it for 65. :)

Yes - his prices are among the best, but he doesn't have any other brands (except KA-BAR).
And I also want a RAT Izula,so I should get them both at the same time to reduce shipping costs.

It ain't no sharpened prybar. The edge geometry is excellent.

More BK9 abuse. Split a large log with a big knot. The knife bent about 20 degrees during the battoning, but came out the bottom perfectly straight. No chipping, rolling of edge. Great knife!!

This pic shows the flexibility in the blade.

A lot of cross grain cutting, right through with no issue.

When the heat treat is right 1095 rocks! Great knife design, and great execution in production by Ka-Bar. My idiot friend dropped the tip onto the fire place brick and chipped the tip. other than his idiot move the knife had no damage.

i cant wait for it to warm up here, i ll be putting my new BK9 to some good use also. as for in the kitchen, im gonna stick with the BK2 i been using for 6 years now. i only have 2 beckers, but they are impressive knives that i recommend to everyone who asks for advice

i was guessing maybe there was a need to "defend" the pizza from scavengers;)

One of the key highlights of a contemporary Becker is the awesome steel and heat treat and the fantastic edge work they do on their knives. I'm VERY impressed with the thin even edge grinds they get on their knives. Outstanding stuff ;)
