Ok I'm trading off my current BK9 for a double bass pedal. So of course I'm going to need a replacement ;) . I'm eyeing either another BK9 or a Brute. I liked my bk9 but even more indestructable is desirable. I thought about Swamp Rat-wait times=too long, Busse-too expensive. So back to beckers it is. What are your opinions?

I would personally go with the BK9. The Brute is a huge piece of steel. Just too much for me to wear on a belt. It looks and feels like a great tool, it's just too big for me to use as a primary camping tool.

I would go to a decent knife shop and check the brute out before buying one. The only problem with getting another BK9 is that it would take away from your New Knife Experience.

IMO, you're not 100% right about the wait times on the Swamp Rat.
If you want one, post in the wanted to buy area.
And then, if you still can't find one, ask in the Swamp Rat area,
and make it clear that you want it right away.
.
But Beckers are tough too, and I don't want to discourage you from getting one.

i waited from december 26 until last wednesday march 2nd for my rat tail and my credit card was never charged, even after a few emails. So I canceled my order, ordered a bark river and got it last friday. I'm not entirely convinced mine was a unique experience either. So i'm going to give them a little while before i buy another one. A becker brute or another bk9 however i could have before the end of the week. weight isn't a ginormous factor, i'm more interested in indestructability, like my busse.

I can't compare to the brute, but I can say if you want indestructable get the BK3 TacTool! Its shorter in length than the 9, but a good chopper and over the top tough.

Bk-9 is a better slicer,

the brute is , well, a brute.

How are you going to use it?

For the money they are both great,

I also have a camp tramp, battle mistress and just traded a basic 9, these are all great blades,

If you want a chopper, also consider the RTAK from ontario, with a little modification of blade and handle, this one gets it done.
