Well today i finally got to open my present and there was a bk9 and crewman. I only used the bk9 today. As soon as i opened it i took it out back and split a few pieces of wood. Nothing too big. Mostly just small logs. This thing handles great!! It doesn't have the greatest splitting ability but it still works great.

The handle on these knives is amazing. They are the most comfortable handles i've felt. The balance is a little above the guard type protrusion. I simply love this knife.

Just have one question. Whats the part on the tang that sticks out at the end of the handle used for? Glass breaker?

Here's a piece of text from Knifeworks, doubtless from Becker:

"In addition, the grip tang of the Combat Bowie incorporates a uniquely shaped butt extension that will work well for most light hammering jobs in the field."

I have a BK9, I sold all my Big Knives to include a Busse but I kept the
BK9. Overall a great knife for the price.
