Trying to decide on my first small EDC fixed blade. I want something that is pocketable (expect front pocket) and also stainless steel. I am not a hard use guy. I am more of a collector but always have a knife in my pocket and they do get used for simple daily mundane chores. I want to be able to use it and I want stainless steel so it will be easier to maintain.

I have narrowed my choices down to four items.

Arno Bernard Meerkat > Small and interesting choices for handles. Relatively good pricing. Read tht N690 compares to VG10
Arno Bernard Gecko > A touch bigger in the handle then the Meerkat and still N690 blade.
Comes from a country that is part of the Commonwealth so I like that.

BKRT Micro Canadian in 154CM > I like the size and the steel plus being Canadian the name sings to me a bit. Read it is a great slicer.
BKRT PSK in ELMAX > Super steel. Would be a lot tougher or me to sharpen when the time comes.

Slimmer handles then the Arno Bernards, so more pocketable but maybe less comfortable when used. I like the made in USA idea as well.

If anyone had any photos of a side by side comparison of any of these it would be appreciated.

You have good taste. The Arno knives are excellent. I have several BKRT and enjoy using them as well. try them both!

Thanks Brian. I think the Meerkat has a slight lead over the Micro Canadian right now. It sure would be nice to actually see and touch one before placing an online order. My Meerkat search on BF turned up mostly the Spyderco version. Only saw one 360 video on YouTube. I am not even sure they have a Canadian retailer but I am happy to order from the good ol' USA as I have done in the past.

I ended up buying the Arno Bernard Meerkat from another BF member here on the BF Exchange. Warthog Ivory handles.

What a pocketable beauty!

So how is the knife working out?

It is actually on my hip the last two days. Love it! I have a brown leather belt with the same stitching as the sheath (purely coincidence) and they look like they were made for each other Classy looking and for a fixed blade it shouldn't put the fear of God into anyone if they notice it under my t-shirt.
