I have an opportunity to purchase a 560 with blade and handle black coated. I've never seen or heard of this finish on a 560, so any info would be appreciated.

The black version is authentic but I don't think it ever made a catalog but it is shown on at least one dealer price list. Buck sent us samples, must have been about 1990 or so. I sold mine several years ago so I can't check the date on the blade but I will try to pin down the date better. I also do not recall selling any of them to dealers so Buck probably did not make very many of them. Anyway, don't be afraid to buy it if it is reasonably priced.

I remember that buck made two versions of the 560. One was the black w/ black blade, and the other was gray with a standard color blade.

Hey all,

I have two catalogs with the black 560 (560BT) listed. One is a small 28 page booklet for the 1998-99 year that actually came in the box that my 560 was in, and the other is a small fold-out that was given to me by one of the BCCI guys...I think it was either Vern or Larry...anyways this one actually has a photo of it alongside it's gray brother the 560GT and the little Rainbow 565RB. I got both 560's new in the box from Wright Knife & Sporting Goods (800-400-1980 or 619-465-6905)in January 2001, they might just have a few left.
Oh, my 560BT is date coded 1997 and the gray 560GT is coded 1998.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for the responses guys. The one I saw is in a local B&M for about $60. I may just pick it up.

I dont think Wright sporting goods would have any. I got one of them in 2001, and they said it was the last gray one.
