Howdy all,

Probably a dumb question, but what color are the black and tan G-10 handles? Maybe it's my colorblindness, maybe it's the different lighting in the pictures I see, maybe it's a combination of both...:D

Every picture I see of black and tan G-10 handles look like black stripes on an either white or light gray background. Is this an optical illusion? :D I really like the look of them but if it really looks tan in person I wouldn't be quite as crazy about it.

Thanks,
BT

The blk/tan that is used now at Busse is actually a blk/white combo.

The older blk/tan looks like the blk/coyote Busse uses now in that it was black and tan.

So no you are not colorblind it is really blk/white.

Here is a good pix of it:thumbup:

Not to be confused with tan'n'black - which a few GW's and otehr knives were made of. LOTS of black, little bitty bit of white. I didn't like that combo.

Nothing sets off the Black & Tan G-10 handles than a Black blade:

Another variation of black & tan...

Hand shaped on a double cut ASH-1

Many slight variations out there...
The black & tan on the FBMs was much more brown than the B&T of late.

HAHA, thanks for the info guys! And actually dobywon, I really AM colorblind. :D

I'm glad that in this case that I was right though. The black and white looks sharp. And Lunde, I agree, I'm normally not fond of the black blades I've seen but the black blade looks best with that handle color.

I'm trying REALLY hard not to buy that black and tan on black blade hellrazor that is for sale in the exchange. I just bought an NMSFNO and have TWO (x2) AD's on the way! The last thing I need from my wife is her reaction to me buying a Hellrazor. :D:eek:

The older style as dobywon mentions above looks like the FBM on the right in this pic...

I actually prefer this version more than the Black/White version...

Beautiful bk/tan cgfbm. question, though: are the knives arranged on stairs or something??? the perspective is freaking me out!!

of course...it's much more obvious when you look at the last pic. <foot-in-mouth emoticon>

Hey Ken,

Is there really that much variance in the tone of the black in the blades or are the exposures inconsistent?

Black is black. The subtle difference is in the exposure.

If you are asking about the 2 in Ken's post #8,
they are 2 different batched of B&T.

The HOGFSH had fewer layers of black, making the white (tan) more prominent

On the ASH-1 there are fewer layers of the white making the black more prominent.

I think he was asking about the blade finish, not the handles, hence my post.

Ahhh.

I think the variance is more the amount of light reflecing off of the crinkle in the crinkle coat....

Is that the same as exposure?
