Black anodised aluminium handle Benchmade

hi there,

need the opinion of the members here.

if i buy a nib benchmade knife with blace anodised aluminium handles, would i be wrong to expect that there should not be any scuff marks on the black anodised handles? Scuff marks means that you can see that something has rubbed against the surface but it is not a scratch.

sorry for the question but i am a newbie to this.

They happen. My AFO has several "rub" marks. I have never tried to clean them off, but I suppose it can be done.

They shouldn't come with any marks, but if you plan on carrying it then I wouldn't worry, because you are going to get plenty more. However I would still shoot them an e-mail just to let them know they let one leave the factory like that. I know that bad asthetics can make a treasured possession feel cheap, but I would just use it and realize the knife will bring you much happieness.

We often get these sorts of problems on Benchmades aluminum handles. Never on CRKT's though. I wonder why.

are you refering to new in box? or those which are edc / used ?

You can re annodize or coat your handle. Sears Craftsman sells a powder coating tool but you will have to have a non cooking oven to cure the powder coat. The tool cost about $160.

New in box. Nothing really bad, mostly around the very butt of the handle and possibly at the very top.

If it's supposed to be a drawer queen, send it back. I'm sure they'll replace it for ya. If you intend to carry and use it, who cares about "rub marks"?

If you take off the clip, you'll notice where the clip contacts the handle by the screws and on the clippy end, even new. Kina suck for us lefties.
