This sounds REALLY strange. And the story is short of details and follow-up. Has anyone else got more information?

Utah campground: Boy killed in black bear attack

An 11-year-old boy was attacked and killed by a black bear as he slept in a tent with his family, police said.

The boy, who was sleeping alone in a section of the large tent, screamed before he was dragged away in his sleeping bag Sunday night in a canyon about 30 miles (48 kilometers) southeast of Salt Lake City, said sheriff's Lt. Dennis Harris.

The boy's body was found about 366 meters from the tent in the direction of another campsite where a bear sighting had been reported earlier in the weekend, Harris said.
Authorities were searching for the bear Monday.

That's really to bad. The kid could have turned out to be real great for the world.

Didn't his family do anything when the commotion started? I mean, I know it doesn't take long for Mr. Bruin to take care of business, but what gives???

They've shot a bear that is thought to be the one.Hot dry conditions with food shortage are thought to have played a role. A similar case happened recently in PA but they drove off the bear. Those kids had been instructed in bear behaviour .

These things happen unfortunately...but it's important to remember that these are the excewptions rtather than the rule...We all stand a much better chance of being hurt when we get behind the wheel of a car or walk down the frontsteps in the winter than we than we do of being hurt in a animal attack...considerin the anount of time people spend living in close proximity to blacbears I'm suprised it doesn't happen more

Early new's said parents were sleeping and woke to child's scream's in the distance also said they had food in the tent which may have brought bear in to the camp #1 no-no in bear country, very tragic story
