First off, I've had this knife for not quite 2 years.. It might be my favorite all around knife and on our property and on trails it is supah dupah. If you don't know about it yet, it is a folder with a blade of 7 3/4in long from tip to scales. OAL it is 15 1/2in long. Closed it is 8 3/4in long. It can fit in front jeans pocket or ride high and clipped in rear pocket...

When open it can be a chopper or act like a short jungle knife. I use it from hacking 1/2 in thick black berries and other hard wood saplings with one swing. It has remained very sharp with little stropping my whole time using it. This knife came SHARP, as all the BBKs I've owned (6 total).

So I wasn't sure if this should go in general or review, as this is part just a WOW discussion and a partial review.. so... meh.

Sometimes I do stupid crap...

We recycle bottles.. mostly beer bottles in a paper grocery bag. Well, the bags were swapped by my wife. I had the Intimidator in my back pocket as usual and walking by the bag I decided to just slice down through the bag.. Why not? Well, there was a sixer in the bag... and not knowing this I took a nice full swing at the bag (sitting on it's little table) and WHAM!

Sliced down the bag nicely until... bottle..

and look at the right side, it sliced glass O_O

And the knife suffered a chip 3/32in wide and about 1/32in deep...

I'm impressed. I emailed them and the response was something to the effect of , "COOL, we'll fix it for free. It'd be cool to show some pictures of that on our site to show its toughness." (not a direct/exact quote, but close enough).

Enjoy!

That is one tough knife! I had a friend attempt to use the glass breaker on one of my Microtechs against a beer bottle once. The bottle won, and mushroomed my glassbreaker!

er, really? That sounds... odd :D Granted, I won't purposefully try to cut glass again@! Luckily being in the bag, glass didn't fly in my face... I was using that knife today cutting rhododendron branches.. thing holds an edge for quite a while.. and strops back to sharp quickly..

I'm wondering and hoping BBKs might custom make one a bit thicker and tougher for serious chopping, though this already is serious enough.. I had to try the 2x4 chopping he shows in his video and it did fine.. some hot spots on the handle but mostly good.. lock pin is fine and still no blade play, gj BBK!

Yea, yull cut glass again... that's what dinks do. :D
I had some BBK knives. I might get another.

Oh yeah! We hit them up for a few "staples", but mostly JUNK FOOD! Oh and free tasters for my boys... The humus there is goods too, check it out! Hmmm and cookie isle.. heh. GAH I NEED TO GO THERE TODAY!

A Trader Joes thread perhaps.. They have a fairly good wine and beer selection.. hodge podge of goodies there.. blah!

BTW I used this knife again the last few days.. it is in my top 3 most used knives.. slide in pocket.. pop it out and CHOP; mini jungle knife.

Oh, how neat.. double posted almost 2 hours later.. good game spotty internet today...

sorry!

I have looked at these for a long time now. For me it's the grind, if they offered a symmetrical grind i'd be all over these. The smaller models like the Metro Razor look perfect for EDC.

I've been considering one of these. I currently use my Cold Steel Rajah II in a similar fashion. I've always got it in my pocket when I'm mowing or weedeating. I can trim the thicker stuff without going back up the hill for a machete or bigger knife. I used to carry my Camillus Cuda Maxx, and even though it's a lot lighter, I got scared of loosing it and not being able to afford to replace it, enter the Raja II. The Intimidator might be a nice ugrade. I've also found that I don't carry a sheath knife all that much when I'm working in the yard. The folder is easier to use and put away without looking, one handed. I hope they'll be at Blade this year, might have to get one:)

crom- What dunt you like about the grind?
Greg- Mike, of BBK, is working on his house. BBK knives will be a tad slow in coming to the market.

OK, bear with me because this is from looking at pics online. But my take is it's a chisel grind with a large bevel on the flat ground side and a smaller bevel on the other? It may work well but it just looks off and I have never had a chisel ground knife. They call it something like ACE or whatever, looks like a chisel grind though.

They are sharp as hell, is what they are. Not quite a traditional chisel grind. I have 5 BBK knives, 3 in S30V, and one in CPM154, and 2 in ATS34. All equally as sharp and yes the metro is a sweep EDC.. I have 2 of those. One in carbon fiber, the one I carry.

If you can pick one up on the exchange, I recommend it!

LIKE a chisel grind but they cut straight. Get one. ;) It's a great blade geometry.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm primarily interested in the thick stock coupled with mostly G10 handle, the lightness factor in a tough blade.

OK, I want to see the bottle cap that had to be in the way of that cut. You did say the bottle was still in the bag, right? ;)

Ballenxj... Hmmm like Cherokee XJ?? I had one til I wrecked it.. great offroading vehicle.. had a 4inch tomken lift, 31s, custom rear and front 1/4 steel bumpers, warn winch, steering stabilzer, quick releases, side rock bars that also added some rigidity.. fun as hell :D

...for your question however, the bottle was in the bag, and as I stated in my original post, we recycle.. so the bottle bag was in the wrong place (where the paper/plastic recycle bag should have been on our dog food bin). Thinking it was all just paper/cardboard/plastic I leaned over a tad and took a nice full swing and SMACK.. there you go :D

Crom- I was going to add. These are all "frameless" knives. So G10 or carbon fiber. The pseudo liner lock is a steel (or Ti) bar that is inset in the G10. So yes it cuts down on weight and I haven't noticed an issue with strength. When I first received my first BBK I was at first a bit bummed as it didn't have a full liner. However I soon got over that and due to the sweet steel choices and profile/grinds, I started collecting a few :) Cheers!

YUP, That answered my question, thanks. :)
Now for yours, yes, 97 Cherokee Country edition, with the full Rusty's 3" spring lift. I loved it. Unfortunately don't have it any more. :(
I was once a regular on jeepin.com.
