Black/Black Ratmandu

I don't know about these days, but when I went looking for one, thats' what I got (black/black). Although I always thought the Swamp Rat black looked a bit green.

Good luck on your quest....the Ratmandu is supposed to be very nice, like all swamprat offerings.

Look around or maybe post a WTB in the appropriate subforum. The RMDs do show up from time to time. Great size blade!

I have 1 of the sage/ tan from the last store offering. Thats why i like them. It is a great size, feel, and look. I love it and want a specific color, thats all. :D

I have a black/black RMD coming in the mail this week... i've never actually held one, so if I don't like it... i'll let you know!

Black/black is what I found when I was buying. I have 2 now, both are G10. You can find black/black with either Micarta or G10 scales. Luck of the draw I found G10 both times.

You have to remember though, that this model is still in demand. Last one I saw posted for sale here was claimed in (IIRC) 7 minutes.

Well now I really can't wait for it to arrive... should be here tomorrow hopefully. Seems alot of guys think this is one of the best of the 5'' blades.

Generally speaking, which handle material is the preferred?

Preferred as a user? Most people like micarta for use. 'Course, that is really the Ford/Chevy kind of question.

"Preferred" as in most sought after? Possibly G10. Prettier in the eyes of most folks.

My G10/Black should be arriving any minute now, and it would seem it's coming with an original Swamp Rat leather sheath as well. Does anyone know if SRKW originally offered a leather sheath for this model??

For users micarta is preferred by most on most knives. That being said, I like G10 on a select few knives. The RMD is one knife where both micarta and G10 works well.

Got my new RMD in the mail this morning.

It is certainly a beautiful little knife, not too big, but not too small either. The black on black is a great combo thats for sure.

I'll have to give it a little sharpening, but I don't think i'll re-profile the edge. I'll just keep the existing angles, even though I find it's quite a robust angle. But I guess since this knife will be general purpose, i'll leave it with a resistant edge.

Excellent knife! I liked mine so much I bought my 14 year old son one for this Christmas!

Im wondering how you guys are sharpening the Ratmandu's... Mine arrived with a rather dull factory edge.
