Black Blades question

I am trying to decide between the satin blade and the black blade on the Pro-tech Godson. Can anyone tell me if the blade color is throughout the metal or is it something that will wear off or grind off when the blade is sharpened?

It's a coating. So it will wear off over time, and the edge won't be black.

I have an otherwise very nice Pro-Tech Godfather and the slightly worn black coating leaves the blade looking dull. Go with satin!

It is definitely a coating. I personally hate most coated blades and would opt for a satin finish every time.

yep get satin i dont like the PT coating at all myself.

some coatings are better than others, all will scuff up though, i just hate a scuffed up black blade myself, though some love them. give me satin anytime.

you made a good choice. i have a jazz godfather satin, real nice fit & finish. i really hate black coated blades.except for my 710hs & dieter,i try to stay away from them.its easier to polish out satin if it gets scratched,theres nothing that can be done to fix a coated blade.
