i'm a little confused.
i've been shopping for the black boron leek.

when i search for "boron" on the kershaw website. it only returns the "chive" in results.
# 1600BLK

the black leek ( #1660CKT ) doesn't actually say anything about it being boron coated. nor does it look like it is (the gloss)

do they still make it?

thanks

what's the part number of the boron leek in these pictures here? (of UnknownVT's(hope it's ok i borrowed the images))

I'm pretty sure that the Black Boron Leek was the 1660BLK,

You can see the model # in one of Jeremy's pics

I haven't seen too many of those around lately, (not a current knife).
I have seen the 1660BG available though (same black boron coating and gold accents).

The Boron Leek with normal-finish hardware and clip (1660BLK, 1660BLKST) was an exclusive back in 2004 for one of Kershaw's customers. There were ~1100 plain-edged and 550 combo-edged pieces produced (info courtesy of Thomas W. from an old post). These are hard to find.

There is also a Boron Leek with gold-finish hardware and clip (1660BG)...these are currently available.

Ray :)

Edit: well, I guess I just duplicated most of the info already provided by KD...at least there's some additional...

There was a "NIB" 1660BLK on hEllbay about 2 weeks ago, and the description did say Boron...almost bid on it. Guess now I should have.

The 1660BG is the Boron Leek with Gold screws and gold pocket clip. It is really classy and readily available if you need a Boron Leek. I highly recommend a half-dozen or so of them!

Unfortunately the 1660BLK was a limited run and sold out everywhere. Below are some 1660BG pics

Oh yeah. Sorry but I don't believe there will be any more boron leeks produced.
Well the BG is kinda ongoing, and has been for a few years. I'll will say if a customer orders up a short run of boron blades, handle, or both, we'll build em.

I replied in my review thread -

Black "boron" Leek

But here it is anyway -

The Black "Boron" Leek that I reviewed was the 1660BLK as shown -

Markings on the knife -

It is no longer available.

The 1660CKT is a matte finished knife with Tungsten DLC coating.

There is a varient of the Black "Boron" Leek available - the main difference being gold accented parts as posted in #11 - that part number is 1660BG

However the Good news is the 1660BG is available (froogle search)

Do you plan on making the 1600BG in the new 14C28N steel? That will be a must buy. If not I will have to pick up the current one.
