Messieurs,

Did Buck ever made a Frontiersman with dark (black) colored wooden scales?

Thanks for your answer.

Haebbie, nice 124... I wish I could tell you if they made them with dark wooden handles or not... Someone will come along and tell you, I'm sure... ITE

Herbert!
Yes they did make black pakkawood scaled 124s in the timeframe of your blade marking. Mine is a '+' so from '90 and '91 black pakkawood did come from El Cajon!
Nice score!

Dave

Thanks, guys for the information.

The knife is offered in Germany so i try to buy it. I'll show you pictures if I got it.

Haebbie

I did see a 124 once at a blade show that had jet black handles. The handles appeared to me made out of the same material that the 119's are made of but I'm not certain about the composition though. It was new in the box for $79.99! But that was in about 1991 or 92!

Thanks for the photo's Herbert. I've never seen the dark wood 124 before. I hope you win it and post more photo's.

Here's another one. It is is a + stamp from 1990 also. The end of the box says: FRONTIERSMAN BLK - MODEL 124BK - CATALOG 8133 - MADE IN USA.

Guys, I got it!
Another rare 124 for the collection.
Thanks again, Richard for the information.
Post more pictures after receiving.
The seller wrote in a mail: "The scales are green"
Let's see.

Here it is.
The scales are not green.

Best,
Haebbie

Please excuse the bad picture quality

Very nice pics. I used to have a 124 and 120 but my sister's ex stole them (along with a bunch of other stuff) about 4 years ago. The 124 was easily my favorite looking Buck knife I had.

i have only see the black handle for sale once before
i did not know it was a hard to find item!
congrats !
and congrats on the new house!
yes our friend is moving at last!
bigger house more room for the kids and wife and his toys!
and i think he now has a building he can have a shop and forge in!

Sharp, I'm sorry you lost some good knives . Perhaps you'll be able to purchase some replacements . DM

wow i know how you feel that some one you knew would steal from you
it has happened here in WV home
and
i lost a knife at the Florida show was my fault...
i had jest bought the oldest ram horn 110 from a early project for
Thompson Center arms and took another out of the display to put it in
and recall setting the one it took out down...
then the fixed blade 110 walked up and i was engrossed with it ...
and
i thought i had misplaced the missing one in the stuff behind the tables
on clean up and packing to come home it did not show up..
but this was my fault ...

Thank you, Sharp, the 124 is a great knife. May be that I have one or two for
sale. If you like I can make you an offer. But not now, all the knives are packed
because of the moving. I need a time to find them between all the stuff that
has to be moved too.

Yes, I know what it means if something you like will be stolen. It is one and a
half year ago when they took my truck. I get angry again when I think about
that.

Best,
Haebbie
