Hello gentlemen... Today when i was peeling my carrot with my black Sanrenmu 710, later on i noticed that the part of the blade engaged in the process took a slightly iridescent green color. Is this normal reaction to the organic stuff of the carrot, or i just ate a toxic one.? :D
Thanks.

Hahaha I have the same knife. Nice EDC, worth a lot more than I paid. Sanrenmu claims it is a titanium nitride coating on their black blades and on the 710. I don't know if that's true or if it's toxic or not. I haven't noticed that, I've only cut strawberries and tomatoes with mine so far.

I think that is a sign of flesh eating bacteria. Better start checking everywhere you can see, to see if any flesh is gone!!:D

Other than that I have no idea.

That's odd, but I think you're safe.
Honestly the knife probably just has some kind of carbon alloy and with the juice or whatever from the carrot got a little bit of a color change?

ah....you stopped your capital letter in each word problem. nice job and much easier to read your post. thanks!

on the topic....srm coating turning green....that is weird. i think i'd turn that srm into a non-food knife.;)

I tried it with my SRM 710 today... nothing at first... I left the tip of the knife stuck in the carrot...

Then 5 minutes later I noticed the same shiny green on the blade. I think it's the carrot juice playing off the finish or something, I wiped it off and it was gone. Strange though!
