Very Cool!! How's that edge hold up to chips and breakage being SO hard?

Thanks Friend

I really appreciate you watching and taking time to post.

Carbide deposited with the machine I am using (Rocklinizer Automatic Knifemaker Model) is actually penetrating into the base metal approx .003" deep.

The end result is a carbide deposit on the substrate measuring approximately .001" proud with a penetration zone approximately .003" in depth.

The properties of the base metal are directly related to structural integrity of the carbide edge...

To evaluate the performance of the carbide the base metal properties will have to be identified..

The carbide reacts much differently on a substrate at 50 rc as opposed to a substrate at 60rc in regards to impact toughness and ghetto credibility...

Dude, we have about a dozen performance testing videos in production, literally everything from razors to swords....

So far we have experienced incredible results...

Thanks Again....

I don't know 100% whats going on here, and never saw anything like that machine.....but i know that i suddenly want one! :p

Do you put the edge on the blade before? Or does this machine do that somehow?

I've got to have some of your knives with this new treatment. Wicked cool!! :D

? is this even feasible on a EDC that will be used everyday for years and years? I think it would be like having to get your White gold Jewelry replated every year so that it stays bright white (or in this case Diamond hard). Interesting idea but the story of FriskyDingo's Ti katana comes to mind. Give me a Great HT'd steel any day over plating.

Your talking about rhodium plating gold...

I am talking about using the Rocklinizer to spray transfer carbide...

Apples and Oranges..

I dont who frisky dingo is and after 14 years I know most accomplished makers??

The blades in the video are rockwell 60 prior to carbide application.

Thanks for taking time to post....I really appreciate it....

Respect...

Not to take us too far off topic, but FriskyDingo was banned.

Love the look of the edge, you do some great work.

Must see flex test or it all means nothing :).

FLEX.. then cut a mild steel rod as tai goo does, hack 2x4 to hell and back, and to ensure it's not faked must be done all in one video :).

As another poster says. If a person got such a blade it would need to be razor then put through your machine. Problem is at that hardness if the knife got dull. The user would have to send it back for re-sharpening because diamond hones, and water hones wouldnt do it.

Seeing is believing. An 80RC hardness ehh? We must see a vice flex test, and abuse test such as putting 1\4" diameter mild steel rod on the blades edge hit it with a hammer to make the edge cut the rod. Do this up and down the entire blade making multiple cuts into the rod, and then do a paper cut, and hair shave all in one video, and then I will bow down and pray.

That sounds about right

I am more interested in what the top Five Percent of the Makers are doing than Frisky Dingo..

Much Respect Bro....

Will this actually give a usable edge for an all Ti blade ?

Hey Bro

Warren Thomas has experienced tremendous success utilizing titanium

Have a great week...

I'm not sure if this is a joke or a really bad tongue in cheek post.

I live in Corpus Christi and extend an open invitation to you are anyone else who wants to come spend a day testing...

The best thing to do would be get someone like Ed Fowler to conduct the testing...

Thanks....

I dont know either Bro

I invited him to my shop to conduct testing..

I am just here to share the process not to debate knife testing...

Respect....

Dude that fkn rocks man. Yah your close to home bro. Nahh man I'm a novice knife maker but studied hard in the metallurgic arts.

I'm going to freer texas to give this bowie I just made to my brother in law. What I was thinking is when I make a future hand crafted knife. Your carberizing tech would be pimp to enhance hand forged blades to their best. I make all my s&&t from 5160.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPbnRzkjMF8
I do an abuse test at the end :)

This is the bowie I JUST FINISHED two days ago going to my brother in law as an xmas gift.
How much do you charge for this carberizing service Snody?

If I get a chance maybe I will take you up on the visit. I love this kind of sh**t man.
