Black finish on Blades

I am getting a PSARK in a few days and wondered how well the black finish on the blade holds up. I seem to remember posts that said the finish on the screws dissapears quickly but is it a different story with the blade? this is going to be an every day user so I espect some wear marks etc but I still don't want to have to send it back to be re coated within the first year. anyone prefer satin finish to black? could ya tell me why? and give me recommendations for an every day work finish?

The Black-T is basically a Teflon coating. It holds up reasonably well for a user finish, but you can and will scratch it up.

I do personally prefer the "Satin" finish. I've personally found it to be a very durable finish and have found over the last few years that I don't really require a blackened finish on knives. I can't tell ya the last time I snuck up on an enemy Sentry. ;)

I have a waved CQC 7 B and the finish on the blade around the wave area wore off after about 2 months. Not very durable on the blade.

Sent it in to Emerson to see if something could be done about it as well as the Liner-lock (it was over-traveling). I was told by Mr. Russell that nothing could be done about the coating and that they do not re-apply the finish.

I do have a satin (hard chromed) '00 Commander that has hardly any wear to the pivot and handle screws, and I've carried it on and off for the last 18 months. Go figure!

Stick with the satin (hard chromed) finishes. Even though that is a "coating" as well, if it wears it's not as noticable.

Good luck!
