Black Friday in the Stand

I walked for six and a half miles, started at 3 30 to be at Cabela's at 5 to see what I could wrap my paws around. Supposedly the first hundred people through the door were supposed to get some sort of 'free gift' but there wasn't one. I walked around for an hour, saw a bunch of overpriced stuff on special for the same price you can find them regularly online, and decided I didn't want to wait through a thousand people at the checkout to save 5 dollars on a bulk pack of Federal Champion 40 grain .22. Stopped at Eddie Bauer and picked up a few thermal teeshirts which are perfect for trail bumming in late fall, and checked out REI's avalanche safety stuff, but wound up heading home with 20 less dollars in my pocket over a 3AM wakeup and a six mile walk. Caught the bus home and spent the day organizing kit and budgeting new kit, got a deal on an SAK Secretary for a cute desk girl I know and a couple other things-some Kabar folders, one of those Tom Krein Boker neckers, a new Primus Lander stove for 45 bones and some 1 liter Optimus fuel bottles at half price. I did pick up a Damon Howatt Hunter on Ebay for the bro for Christmas-he's a freshman at a school in WI renowned for their archery team and he's spending his required 4 physical education classes on archery. Now to fletch some decent arrows that won't break the bank...

Nice, can't think of a better way to avoid the crowds than hangin' in the woods.
