Yangdu sent me the twin brother to the above-pictured giant Seax. The length, weight, handle and sheath are identical.
I already had a shorter, slimmer Seax by Sher, but this one is a whole different animal. Solid, beefy, feels like it would be equally good chopping tree limbs or hacking through shields. The sheath is as good as it looks in Yangdu's picture. Nice thick leather, and holds the blade very securely. It slides in and out with no trouble (one of the benefits of a straight blade), but I can hold the sheath upside down and shake it, and the blade stays put (even without the handle strap).
The only problem was that the pointy tip of the blade was bent to one side, maybe 15 degrees. I figured the tips of HI blades are relatively soft steel, so I gave it a dozen or so hard, sideways wacks against a chunk of flat wood and that straightened it out. Although not as hard as the edge, that tip is plenty strong. I had to wack it real hard quite a few times to straighten it.
I almost forgot to mention: The bolster and buttcap are both steel. Another plus.
