I didn't know that I especially like black handled knives but it seems I do .

I have owned knives of all colors but here is most of my current collection - all black and to my eye - very sweet knives. It struck me as a great surprise when I gathered them together.

See what I mean

Cheers, Ray

It may be the general dearth of other color options playing in there as well. I don't mind the 'tactical' trend as much as some, but it irritates me that it seems to have convinced gear manufacturers that various shades of black, brown, grey and the generally hideous olive drab are the only colors that exist.

That said, you have some beauties in that picture, but I wish there were more bright, vibrant color options available.

Great line up right there Ray........only if there wS some color.....
Sorry, couldn't resist!
The only black handled knife I have bought in the last couple years is carbon fiber. No more black G10 for me!!
Love that Rocky!!

I do own a few knives with color and swirls (no all TI or carbon fiber though) but that would detract from this post. :) Have sold some bright orange and sky blue knives along with quite a few drab greens and fancy red woods. Fun for me to realize how many black knives I use (yup, nothing compared to Blues' excellent array - I'm a relative lightweight knife collector). Wasn't ever planned that way, just happened.

You talking about the Busse SAR 3 or that outstanding John Doyle? Either way - yeah, right huh?:D

Ray
Definitely the Doyle, not something I could ever afford but nice knives would make me look bad anyways.

Black handles have their place. But I find them so common , mundane and boring.

I think a little color livens things up. Variety is the spice of life.

I would be happy with just the 5 knives pictures in your original post. That's a great array of functional, yet beautiful blades.

By the way, what is that micarta folder? It looks great!

Thanks. I like 'em. The micarta folder is a Kwaiken flipper, a one of a kind from Chris Guay of Disposition Bladeworks called - THE HERON. It's a really great flipper though a bit on the big side for average EDC. Not as refined as the Shiro but it deploys as smoothly and with authority.

Here are it's specs:
• 52100 Blade - HRC 58-60
• OAL - 9-3/8" 11/16" thick at the handle
• 4-3/8" blade length X 3/16" thick
• Titanium Liner lock
• Black Micarta scales & backspace
• AKS bearings
• Forged titanium lock & clip

That's a pretty sweet knife! To be honest, I would prefer it without the flipper tab. Your first picture made it look like a thumb-opener; but that's just my personal preference. Still a cool blade!

Those are all nice knives... I've noticed certain models of black knives are much more attractive than other models. Not too surprising, and subject to personal opinion. However, I'm fond of all-black PM2's, the all-black Spydie Southard and the ZT0095s90BLK in particular.
