Black Hawk Point Man-Overpriced?

How much do they want? I don't see a price listed. IMHO for the materials if it is over $100 it is overpriced. $75 to $90 is actually a better range for a knife of that size with those materials.
OK, just saw it listed in the 70-75 range. If you look around you can find better blade steels in the same price range, but if you like the knife go for it.

I estimate the price will run about $65 - $70 for the Point man or the Hornet. I'm waiting for the Hornet II myself. Anymore than that and I'll just settle for the Spyderco Tenacious ($31.25)

I've seen both the PM and Hornet II going for around $69.00 each. I came close to buying the Hornet II because the on-line dealer was using a MOD Hornet picture. I figured it was an imported version of the MOD Hornet for 1/2 the price, but they're completely different, both PM and Hornet II have ss liners with G10 scales.

I have so many similar knives I passed, but I think they're both worth the price.

AUS-8 with ostensibly 0.060-class 420J2 liners?

That sounds like CRKT quality to me, not Spyderco/Benchmade quality.

I concur with the above posters. $70 MSRP, $40-60 street sounds reasonable.

I always liked this knife when it was the Trident. Back then it had 154CM or ATS34 blade steel, I think? Now that it has a spear point blade I like it even more. AUS8 is a good steel as long as the heat treat is done correctly and I've never read anything bad about MOD's/Blackhawk's ht. It has a nested liner that is pretty thick as I remember and from the photo you linked, it still does. For the price, if you like it, then by all means pick one up!!:D

I've always liked the "Trident" design best among MOD lineup (held one at an arms show back in 2000).

Please let us know how it handles. TIA!

Blackhawk anything is overpriced. For example, they make many generic pouches (I can think of 9 makers that make the exact same pouch I'm thinking of) all in Vietnam. However, they cost the same or more than those made by other companies in the US. BH is only a deal when they product is on sale.

If i had the cash i would not mind trying one for 70$ range. But i find it hard to trust anyone beside the three musketeers, Spyderco, Benchmade and Kershaw......

It is not the bang-for-buck winner, I'll give you that. Ovewrpriced? No really, I think is just OK priced (street price of $70). I really, really like the baled grind though.

pretty much everything is overpriced especially since few if any of its products are made in the USA

THese knives are around 85+ on eBay right now. I think my Lion Steel Daghetta, with D2 steel for $20 less would be not only comparable, but offer better performance and a significant saving$.
