Can anyone recommend good jeep trails in the black hills and wilderness areas near by. I am obviously not going to drive in the wilderness area, but would love to find a spur of a trail that is not too hardcore that abuts up to the wilderness area out there. I could park and camp, then hike on later on.

Any ideas?

You can probably get an answer here... http://www.bh4wheelers.com/...it looks like they've revamped the site recently but there is a contact address.

The only wilderness area in the Hills is the Black Elk. I'm not sure if there are any jeep trails close to it, I think most are closer to Deadwood. As for hikes there are tons of good trails. A decent (and fairly easy) hike is a section of the Centennial Trail just south of Mt Rushmore. Park at the Big Pine trailhead and go across the road, you can do a loop if you take the fork to the left that's a couple of miles down the trail. If you go to the right at the fork it will take you into the wilderness area.

One thing to be aware of is that open fires are only allowed in designated campgrounds, although you can camp pretty much anywhere in the NF.
